A month away from the blog, a new bookish adventure behind the scenes, and plenty more stories waiting to be discovered.

It’s been a little while since the last post here on Turning Chapters. And while the blog may have been quiet, books certainly haven’t been!

Over the past month, the focus has shifted behind the scenes to something completely new: setting up a book-selling business. It’s been a busy few weeks of planning, organising, researching, and, naturally, spending an impressive amount of time surrounded by books.

That has meant the blog has taken a short pause while everything else has been getting up and running.

But now, it’s time to turn the page.

A New Chapter Behind the Scenes

One of the most enjoyable parts of setting up a book-selling business has been rediscovering just how many different ways there are to fall in love with a book.

A book might catch your attention because of its cover. Another might be recommended by someone whose reading tastes you trust. Sometimes it’s simply a title you’ve never heard of before that makes you stop and wonder what the story is about.

While going through books for the new business, I’ve found myself doing exactly what readers do best: picking things up, reading the description, discovering books I’d forgotten about, and adding titles to an already rather ambitious TBR.

It has been a good reminder that discovering books is just as enjoyable as reading them.

And that is something I want to bring back to Turning Chapters.

What Turning Chapters Is All About

At its heart, Turning Chapters is about discovering books, sharing recommendations, and celebrating the joy of reading.

Book reviews will continue to be an important part of the blog, but there is so much more to talk about than the books being rated.

There are the books that become instant favourites.

The ones that rescue us from reading slumps.

The books we recommend to absolutely everyone.

The stories that surprise us.

The books we pick up because of a beautiful cover and end up loving.

And, of course, the books that have been sitting on our TBR for far too long.

That’s the kind of bookish content I want to continue exploring.

More Than Just Book Reviews

Going forward, Turning Chapters will continue to feature a mixture of different book-related posts.

Expect more:
Book reviews – honest thoughts on recent reads and older discoveries
Book recommendations – books to add to your TBR for every mood
Seasonal reading lists – because every season deserves its own TBR

The aim isn’t to tell you what you should read.

It’s to give you ideas for what you might want to read next.

Finding the Next Great Read

One thing setting up a book-selling business has really highlighted is just how personal reading is.

Two people can pick up exactly the same book and have completely different experiences.

One reader might fall in love with the characters while another struggles to connect with them. One person might race through a thriller in a single evening, while someone else might prefer to take their time with a slower, character-driven story.

And that’s the fun of it.

There isn’t one perfect reading list.

There isn’t one genre that everyone should love.

There isn’t even one definition of what make a book “good.”

There are simply stories waiting for the right reader to discover them.

That’s what I hope Turning Chapters can help with

What Next?

After a month away, there are plenty of ideas waiting to make their way onto the blog.

There will be more reviews, more recommendations and more opportunities to discover books that might otherwise pass you by.

And as the book-selling business develops, it will be exciting to see how the two projects grow alongside each other.

The blog provides a place to talk about books.

The business provides another way to help those books find readers.

And both come back the the same thing: a love of reading.

Here’s to the Next Chapter

Taking a short break has given Turning Chapters a chance to pause, reassess and come back with plenty of new ideas.

So, rather than looking at the last month as time away from the blog, I’m choosing to see it as the beginning of something new.

There are books to discover, stories to share and plenty more chapters to come.
